Sakalakala Vallavan Press Meet stills Source from yadtek.com

Welcome back everyone. This week let me share with all of you with another movie review. For those who watch Tamil old movies, I guess you guys must’ve have known, Sakalakala Vallavan. So there’s new movie with the same title.

This story is about Sakthi (Jayam Ravi), the son of a politician in their place. Sakthi met Chinnabuthi’s (Soori) uncle’s daughter, who the role played by Anjali and falls in love with her. While these two lovebirds enjoys being in love, unexpected twist takes turn when Sakthi marries Divya (Trisha) in her wedding day. Divya and Sakthi are relatives but she has been in town for so long and only comes back to the village for her marriage, with a police officer (John Vijay). Since the bride is brought up in the city, she can be defined as independent woman who agrees to marry Sakthi for no necessary reason. During the first month, nothing much happens but things turn bad and it lead to divorce. Sakthi agrees to do so but with a condition, which is she has to stay with Sakthi’s parents for one month. Here is where many things happens like Divya slowly starts to like Sakthi and of course, at the end of the movie, the husband and wife happily live together with their children ; although they still argues about literally everything.

There are quite a number of actors in this movie as Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Prabhu amd many more. Jayam Ravi has done his part pleasantly and same goes to Trisha and Anjali. They have acted precisely and satisfactorily. But when it comes to Soori, I do feel like he’s trying too hard to make a joke where no one laughs. I do like his acting, but maybe sometimes it is better to act not excessively. Vivek and others has also done their part well and nicely.

As I read many reviews of this movie, all I could get is ‘a total bore’, ‘same old story’, ‘not entertaining as expected’ and so on and so forth. But come on, this movie isn’t so bad for me! Maybe it is because I haven’t watch the old version of Sakalakala Vallavan that was out in theatre before I was born. But I did enjoyed watching this movie.

Unfortunately, the music and background scores did not dwell well with the movie as none of the song stands out. Although SS Thaman is one of my favourite music composer, but this one is just isn’t his time. I don’t hate the songs, but at the same time, I’m not loving it either.

Suraj, as the director for Sakalakala Vallavan, did a standard-deal work. Although this movies mostly gets negative review than positive review, at least there are parts in the movie that deserves some laughter.

For me personally, I do like this movie and I had watched this for more than once. So for those who haven’t watch it even for once, why don’t you give it a try?

For those who has doubt, watch this trailer first
