What do you do when you’re bored? Well I usually watch movies and never get bored with watching back a movie over and over again. Today I’ll sharing one of the hit movie of the year 2015, Thani Oruvan. This film gets positive reviews everywhere and can be said movie of the year.
The typical Indian cinema movies will starts off with the introduction of hero or even the heroin but in this film, the director decided to starts with the introduction of the birth of the villain. After fifteen years, the baby boy Pazhani volunteers to take the blame of killing a man in exchange for MLA seat for his father. Another 15 years later, an IPS officer trainee, Mithran (Jayam Ravi) with his friends successfully assists the police in catching a gang who kidnapped girls. Mahima (Nayanthara) will appear with flashback showing how Mahima fell in love with Mithran. Mithran is man with dream to be a police officer to get rid of all the criminals who bend law for their own good. One day, he comes to know that there’s a group consists of three and they are under a genius scientist, Siddarth Abimanyu.
Siddarth uses medical field in a wrong way for his own profit. His man, Vicky (Vamsi Krishna) helps him in shooting Mithran and while he is admitted in hospital, Siddarth had the doctor to implant an electronic bug inside of him during the surgery. With the bug, Siddarth listens and observes all of Mithran’s plans and successfully destroys all of his plan without his knowledge. But Mithran finds out there’s a bug inside him and manages to takes it out.
Finally when Siddarth is arrested, Mithran makes a deal that he can save Siddarth’s life if he confesses and gives out all the information and evidences. Mithran gives Siddarth a bullet proof vest to protect himself dutring his transport to the court as the protest is going on outside. But Siddarth did not wear the vest and unfortunately he is fatally shot by his own girlfriend, Shilpa, as an act of vengeance for killing her father in the past. When he is laying on the road dying, he actually tells Mithran that he hid all the evidences in a memory card inside and at the end of the film, Siddarth says he had not done this for the sake for the nation and so on but for Mithran himself.

The protagonist of Thani Oruvan, which is Jayam Ravi gives a great come back after his character in Peranmai. Jayam Ravi’s acting, body language- the grim and forbidding in appearance and the clenched fists is enough to display the determination of the character. In this film, Mithran will meet his match, which played by Arvind Swamy, making his praiseworthy return to the cinema field. He is the perfect one for the role of Siddarth Abimanyu with the classy and smart style of him. Besides that, others that shine throughout the film include Mahima (Nayanthara) who plays the role of a forensic expert and also Thambhi Ramaiyah who is Siddarth’s father and we manage to get some laughter moment with the presents of him.
Music and songs is one of the important part in a Tamil movie and Hip Hop Tamizha has nailed it in Thani Oruvan. The song ‘Kannala Kannala’ becomes major hit as many likes and can sing the song easily. ‘Kadhal Cricket’ song is also a favourite for most of us especially music lovers.
Thani Oruvan is a thriller film pack with smartly written script by Mohan Raja and Subha. The cinematography by Ramji is also needed to be mentioned as the camera movements in the film are quite subtle which suits the film really well. Mohan Raja, who is known for all the remake movies made everyone astonished by this Thani Oruvan.
