Welcome back everyone. Today I’ll be sharing about the ‘Puli’ movie review.

This film has some big stars as the main casts. Marudheeran (Vijay) is the adopted son of village chief Vembunathan (Prabhu). Whe Marudheeran grows up, he starts to protect their village from ‘Vedhalams’. He falls in love with Pavazhamalli (Shruti Hassan), his love since young age and they got married at one night. One day, she is kidnapped by Vedhalams and Vembunathan is killed at the same time. Along with friends Kodangi (Thambhi Ramaiah) and Sama (Sathyan) starts their journey to Vedhalapuram to rescue her. During their journey, Marudheeran rescues Manthagini (Hansika Motwani) and they enters the Vedhalapuram by disguised as medicine makers. The queen if Vedhalapuram is Yavarani (Sridevi) and things will happen in between and Marudheeran finally found out he is also a Vedhalam. He finds out that Yavarani is actually a puppet and being possessed by the influence of evil Jalatharangan (Sudeep). Due to that evil magical power, she became an evil queen as well as her tyrannical behaviour. After Yavarani performs kanya Pooja for boost her power for eighteenth consecutive year, Jalatharangan actually planned to kills her and take over the title. Marudheeran kills Jalatharangan and the source of the magic is also destroyed. Marudheeran manages to save Pavazhamalli and releases queen Yavarani from the black magic power. End of this story will be Yavarani makes Marudheeran heir of the Vedhalapuram.

Although this is the first time we are seeing Vijay acting in a fantasy romance movie, he does not look weird or odd in his regal costumes. His dance movements especially for the song Puli Puli deserves some big claps. While for Shruti Hassan and Hansika Motwani, they have done a splendid work and shines in the film. Sridevi, as the evil queen has shown a different side of her acting.Thambhi Ramaiah, Satyan, Robo Shankar, Imman Annachi and many more have done their part by giving us some amusing moment in the film.

I am quite disappointed with Devi Sri Prasad’s music for Puli as the songs such as Jingiliya or Puli Puli songs are just too much and slowing down the pace of the film. The only song that caught my attention is Yaendi Yaendi as it gives a sense of romantic chemistry between the hero and heroine.

Although Puli movie gained many negative review as ‘bored to death’, it is a film that has many efforts which really need to be positively be considered. This type of movie isn’t something that we get to see every day in Indian cinema, so let’s appreciate it bit more. Despite its issues on the display, Puli do deserve to be seen for all the effort that has gone into the making.

Chimbhu Devan is a fan of fantasy film as almost all his previous works is related to it. One of my favourite would be Arai En 305-il Kadavul. I have read some reviews about Puli online and all I can conclude is that Puli is disappointing. But anyhow, for all the hard work by the team and visual treat for all, Puli deserves to be watch and enjoyed by everyone. Applause to the director, casts and the whole team for that.
