One of the scene where Masss talks with Manini Source from moviegalleri.net

Hello everyone! Welcome back to this blog reviewing Tamil top 13 movies for 2015. Today I’ll reviewing about the movie ‘Masss’. I guess most of us have heard and watched this before.

So this film starts with the murder of an ex-commissioner and moving on to the part where Masilamani as known as Masss (Surya) and his good friend in the film Jet Li or Jetu (Premji Amaren) who are small-time con artists. Masss meets Manini (Nayanthara) and they will fall in love with each other. Masss and Jet Li meets a car accident and ever since then, Masss is able to see dead people and communicate with them. While Jet is dead in the car accident, he will become a ghost and helps Masss. Masss forms a group and earn money by perform fake kind of exorcisms with the help of the ghosts and in return, he has to fulfil their last wish. One day he meets a ghost named Sakthi which is also played by Surya himself. He does look-alike Masss and he wants to use Masss for his needs. Masss meets Kamal and he explains that Sakthi is Masss’s father. After knowing the truth, Masss decides to kill the last villain which is Radha Krishnan. Masss is hit on the head and after that he lost his supernatural power to communicate with the spirits. At the end, Masss succeeds in avenging his parents and his elder sister’s death and by this Sakthi’s last wish has fulfilled, he goes to heaven. While here, Masss and Manini gets married and continues their life.

This is a film by the director Venkat Prabhu and of course we get to see his brother Premji in all his films. Surya rocks in this in both Masss and Sakthi’s roles. Which one is your favourite? The simplicity in acting and does not over acting is one of the Surya’s power point. He gives us a marvellous performance in Masss with emotions, fight scenes, dances and not to forget romance. While Premji plays Jet Li has done a good job in playing a friendly ghost and helps Masss. One of the sad part in the film would be when Masss finds out that Jet Li is dead. Nayanthara and Pranitha have also done an astonishing acting as a nurse in this film. Actors that also needed to be mention includes Parthiban, as a cop and Karunas, Samuthirakanni and many more. They have perform an adequate and equivalent work in this film.

Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and background score is also a plus point to this Masss. The songs are very smooth and will bring pleasant to our ears. Praveen KL’s editing is helpful in the film that brings a flow in a good speed pace to this film. My favourite song in this film would be Poochandi despite the fact the song is quite spooky, it is yet enjoyable and this song is a tribute to Michael Jackson in a way.

Masss is a good entertainer with a different story-line rather than just a normal revenge story with twist. It is a masala film that contain the spooky moments and hilarious scenes that deserves claps from audience. And if you went to watch in theatre then of course you’ll be rewarded with bloopers at the end that brings laughter to everyone.
